Secure Lands For Affordable Housing- Hon. Atta Akyea
The Minister for Works and Housing, Honourable Samuel Atta Akyea, has noted the need for all Regional Ministers to secure lands to enable the Government put up affordable housing.
According to the Minster, securing such land banks would go a long way to boost the affordable housing scheme aimed at providing houses to a number of workers at reasonable rates.
Hon. Atta Akyea noted that, the staggering 1.7 housing deficit in the country is a great worry to the Government and this required proactive measures to address the situation. He made this known when he inspected the Elmina Sea Defence project in the Central Region.
Upon the inspection, the Minister commended the Ghanaian Contractor, Messrs Vuluxx Limited executing the Elmina Sea Defence Project for an excellent work done. Adding that “we should disabuse our minds that it’s only people with white colour pigmentation that can solve the problems of Ghana” “if you have a Ghanaian contractor who can perform well before the contract date and time, then he should be rewarded”
Hon. Kwamena Duncan, the Central Regional Minister who was part of the entourage to the site expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his visit to the region.
The Minister was accompanied by his two Deputy Ministers, Hon. Freda Prempeh, Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi, Director of Hydrological Services Department and other officials from the Ministry.
