PROFILE OF THE MINISTER

Kojo Oppong – Nkrumah is a Ghanaian politician, lawyer, and entrepreneur.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ghana law school and is a barrister and solicitor of the supreme court of Ghana. He also has an MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana Business School and a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Cape Coast.

Kojo currently represents the people of Ofoase/Ayirebi for a second term as a Member of Parliament and is also a member of the Committee on Finance, constitutional and legal affairs in the 8th Parliament of Ghana.

Drawing on his legal, financial, and entrepreneurial background, he is passionate about young people using public service to impact lives.

In his role as Minister for Information, Mr. Nkrumah’s administration developed new channels for managing Government communications. These included regular national briefings, the development of digital retail communication channels, proactive engagements on government policies and programs. Mr. Nkrumah’s reforms at the Information Services Department are fast transforming the 80 year old institution into a modern day research and public education vehicle for Government. He is credited with the smooth implementation of Ghana’s Right to Information Act since its passage.

In his constituency, Mr. Nkrumah’s education and skills development fund is credited with scholarships to over 450 beneficiaries since 2017, the construction and the maintenance of schools. Mr. Nkrumah is also notable for attracting key national projects and institutions into his constituency.

In Parliament Mr. Nkrumah is a strong public policy advocate with significant contributions to annual budgets and economic policy since 2017.

He loves his Kumasi Asante Kotoko, is married to his beloved Akua Oppong Nkrumah, has four children and is not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth.
